Motel lights stay on despite closing door/locking motorcar

This happened terminal week and it killed my battery, then information technology went away for a week, and now information technology's happening again.

with my interior light switch in the "centre" position (door response mode) and with all doors and the body shut, the motel lights stay ON. It'due south as though the car isn't recognizing that I'grand shutting my door. Yet, my door chime turns off immediately when I close my door.

I tin can turn the interior light switch to the OFF position, but apparently another calorie-free stays on because my battery died terminal week doing just that. It may slow the battery drain, but it doesn't terminate it.

WTF is going on and how practice I fix it?

With all your doors close, and the switch set to "off", do you lot notice whatsoever lower door lights staying on? This could at least indicate y'all to which door is causing the cabin lights to stay on. This sounds like similiar problems others accept been having with the wiring cluster betwixt the door jam and the door itself. Seems that afterward years of open up and close use, the wires weaken and break, causing symptoms like you're explaining. I'll run into if I can find the thread where others accept come up with a few different "fixes" for these bug.

Thanks human, I'll have to arrive there and check it out.

The problem is, I'chiliad leaving town for the weekend. What fuses exercise I need to pull to make sure that nothing stays on with the door shut? Because right now, even turning the lite switch for the cabin lights OFF, something still seems to stay on. Or at least enough to bleed the battery. I can't have a dead battery this weekend.

I honestly don't know if/which fuse(s) you lot could pull to kill all the lights. But you could detect which light is staying on and pull the seedling--just a thought. I'd check the lights in your door jambs, as well as the lights under the rear of the front seats. Wish I could be of more than help...GL!

I can't come across any lights in the door jambs, unfortunately. I'k pretty sure it's the driver'southward door, though, since that's the only one I've been using.

That's been very helpful human being, I'm gonna accept to get a replacement harness and accept my shop re-install information technology next week.

This is interesting, I'thou noticing now that neither my driver's or passenger's LOCK buttons piece of work. Unlock works, and I can lock the automobile via my keyfob, but when I printing the red key, I hear nothing.

    Merely disconnect the battery?

Ok, it looks like it's the correct rear door latch, according to my indie shop.

Of course, Audi wants $230 for the part. Anyone accept a function number or a source for a right rear door latch?

    edit: got it: 8E0-839-016-D

Genuine Audi Parts has it for $threescore+ nether MSRP. Yet $170 shipped though ** ouch!
